CAUTION
Edward E. Nye was arrested by the New York State Police on January 13, 1982, in Canaan, New York, and charged with thirty counts of sodomy in the first degree. Nye had taken a job as a counselor in a school for juvenile boys in August of 1981. Rumors of sexual molestation prompted an investigation of Nye that led to his arrest. In February of 1983, Nye entered guilty pleas to two counts of sexual abuse, first degree, and two counts of sodomy, third degree. On February 17, 1983, Nye was committed to the Capital District Psychiatric Center (CDPC), Albany, New York, for evaluation of suicidal tendencies. On February 21, 1983, the CDPC reported Nye missing from the institution. On June 13, 1989, an arrest warrant was issued in the Northern District of New York, Albany, New York charging Nye with unlawful flight to avoid confinement.
