GENERO ESPINOZA DORANTES
UNLAWFUL FLIGHT TO AVOID PROSECUTION - CRIMINAL HOMICIDE
MARTHA L. CANO PATLAN
UNLAWFUL FLIGHT TO AVOID PROSECUTION - CRIMINAL HOMICIDE
Genero Espinoza Dorantes and his girlfriend, Martha L. Cano Patlan, were wanted for the murder of her four-year-old son. The body of the boy was found in a public park in Nashville, Tennessee, on February 22, 2003. The boy had been both beaten and burned. After local arrest warrants were issued for both Dorantes and Patlan charging them with criminal homicide, federal arrest warrants were issued for them on February 25, 2003, in the United States District Court, Nashville, Tennessee, charging them with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Dorantes and Patlan were believed to be traveling with her eight-year-old daughter, Mariana Cisneros, and a 15-month-old boy. Both of these children are thought to be in danger of serious bodily injury or death. They may be traveling in a white, 1995 Chevrolet AstroVan with tinted windows.

Authorities got a huge break in the case on February 17, 2006 when a Youth Services detective in Nashville received information that Patlan was in Mexico and was apparently willing to talk to authorities. The tip was a good one -- when authorities followed up on it, they were able to locate Patlan in Mexico. When they took her into custody, she agreed to cooperate.
Patlan's information indicated that Dorantes was likely living in Tijuana, Mexico. Mexican authorities and the FBI pooled their resources to pinpoint Dorantes' exact location. As part of their investigation, Mexican officials say they interviewed a friend of Dorantes in Tijuana, who told them Dorantes had recently been in the area. Authorities called for backup, and sure enough, police spotted Dorantes and slapped on the handcuffs.
It turns out the alleged child killer was living with his 4-year-old son, Edgar Allen Espinosa Patlan -- who is disturbingly the same age as the child Dorantes is accused of torturing and murdering. Dorantes is awaiting extradition back to Tennessee.
