UNLAWFUL FLIGHT TO AVOID PROSECUTION - CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE, CHILD ABUSE



Robert Claude McCormick was wanted for his alleged sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl over a five-year period in Bryan County, Oklahoma. On March 15, 2002, a state arrest warrant was issued for McCormick charging him with child sexual abuse and child abuse.

On July 28, 2003, a federal arrest warrant was filed in the Eastern District of Oklahoma Court, Muskogee, Oklahoma, charging McCormick with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.



Fugitive Arrested After 3 Year Search

Oklahoma — 3-29-05 – 62-year-old Robert Claude McCormick has been captured after three years on the run. He is charged in Bryan County with sexually abusing a seven-year-old victim, repeatedly raping her, and forcing her to live in his trailer for four years.

His alleged victim was 11 before she told a teacher at a Bennington school about the abuse. McCormick was her mother’s boyfriend.

He was caught in Weatherford, Texas on Friday and is now in the Parker County Jail where he is held without bond until being transferred back to Bryan County.

McCormick fled after charges were brought against him back in February of 2002.
